My experience at PMCOE was very personal and tailored to my needs. I had no problem passing my certification course because I was so well prepared.
We interviewed Kelsey Kah. Kelsey was able to pass her PMP exam within 2 weeks of completing our PMP Exam Preparation Course, which is a fantastic effort.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. e.g your name, location, hobby, your current work and your role?
Hi! My name is Kelsey Kah, and I am a management consultant for a global boutique firm based in Denver, Colorado. I am passionate about learning and adapting to new trends in the business field. I grew up with my family in Knoxville, TN. I love reading, running, my goldendoodle puppy, and enjoying delicious food with good company (like one of my many family members). I work as an analyst & project manager for various client engagements. The nature of consulting is such that I end up working on something totally new every few months. I love what I do because its fast paced, always changing, and people oriented.
2. What did you study with PMCOE and what was your reason for taking the course?
I studied for the PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification with PMCOE. I wanted to increase my expertise in management principles for traditional and agile projects. I am always looking for ways to improve my management skills to help my team work more efficiently and effectively.
3. How do you plan to utilize your newly acquired knowledge?
I am currently on a traditional waterfall engagement where communication between teams has been a real struggle. I’m applying my PMP knowledge by creating new communication plans and stakeholder engagement maps. We are increasing our proactive communication and improving our risk mitigation strategies. We live by the rule “no surprises” and now we have more tactical ways to accomplish that goal with our key stakeholders.
4. How would you describe your learning experience at PMCOE?
My experience at PMCOE was very personal and tailored to my needs. Alan worked with us every day to answer questions and understand where the current gaps were to teach those concepts first. We worked through real life examples that were applicable to my current work. The format was easy to work through and the learning tools were top-notch. I had no problem passing my certification course because I was so well prepared.
